President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Thursday in Samarkand. During the talks, the head of state gave a high assessment of the current state of bilateral relations and expressed the country’s readiness to further develop them, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.

The two sides also discussed energy supply issues, emphasizing the importance of implementing advanced technologies and ensuring the stability of supplies in line with the EU’s focus on developing “green” energy.

The negotiations covered a wide range of areas of cooperation, including the economy, energy, transportation, and technology. Special attention was given to prospects for cooperation in cultural and educational spheres.

The energy agenda was a key topic in the dialogue. The participants highlighted the need for advanced technological solutions and ensuring the stability of energy supplies, aligning with the European focus on the development of “green” energy.

The President of Turkmenistan arrived in Samarkand to participate in the first Central Asia-EU Summit.
