Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov participated in the Tehran Dialogue Forum 2025, held on May 18-19 in Iran’s capital, Tehran. Speaking at the international event, the foreign minister outlined Turkmenistan’s position on developing transport and logistics connectivity as a key tool for sustainable economic growth and regional cooperation.

The forum was organized by the Center for Political and International Studies under Iran’s Foreign Ministry and brought together representatives from more than 150 official delegations, as reported by the Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry.

During the panel discussion “From the Indian Subcontinent to Eurasia: Transport Corridors, Geo-economics, and Emerging Opportunities,” Meredov emphasized the importance of international partnerships in implementing continental transport corridors. He noted that Turkmenistan’s “Revival of the Great Silk Road” initiative aims to create an integration platform in the Eurasian region.

Turkmenistan’s top diplomat also outlined the country’s priorities in transport diplomacy — including building transport infrastructure, modernizing Caspian ports, and strengthening cooperation with regional countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Iran.

Rashid Meredov highlighted the importance of the energy dimension in Turkmenistan’s foreign economic strategy, specifically noting projects aimed at diversifying natural gas supplies and expanding electricity exports to West Asian countries.

On the sidelines of the forum, Meredov held several bilateral meetings with representatives of foreign delegations to discuss prospects for deepening interstate dialogue.
