Central Asia–Russia Summit: Turkmenistan Puts Forward Important Proposals on Transport and Electric Power
10.10.2025
At the second Central Asia-Russia Summit, held today in Dushanbe, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov focused specifically on transport and energy systems.
It is noted that the transport system is particularly important today. The creation of a reliable, sustainable, and efficient logistics system running through the territories of Central Asian states and Russia is the primary goal of joint efforts in this area.
“Turkmenistan believes that the creation of an international North-South transport corridor along the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea will open up great opportunities. This transport corridor will bring significant benefits to all participants. At the same time, it also must be considered as part of a larger Eurasian transport project. In this regard, I would like to highlight the importance of the Caspian Transport and Logistics Center for establishing direct transport links between the countries of Central Asia and Russia via the Caspian Sea. Turkmenistan is ready to discuss the use of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport for these purposes,” President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said in his speech.
The President of Turkmenistan also emphasized the importance of energy cooperation, noting that the Turkmen government places particular emphasis on the electric power industry.
“We propose considering the issue of electricity transmission within our countries, as well as access to neighboring countries and regions, primarily in the south. We are also prepared for closer cooperation in the use of renewable energy sources. I am confident that we have much to offer each other, based on our jointly accumulated and new experience, as well as scientific and technological achievements,” said President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, according to TDH.
