On October 9, Deputy Foreign Minister Akhmed Gurbanov met with a Malaysian delegation led by Senior Political Secretary to the Prime Minister Seri Shamsullam Iskandar Mohd Akin at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the talks, the parties discussed key areas of Turkmen-Malaysian relations, reaffirming their long-term partnership based on principles of mutual respect.

Trade and economic cooperation took center stage, with investment identified as a priority.

The parties paid special attention to the oil and gas industry, including Turkmenistan’s long-standing and successful cooperation with the Malaysian company Petronas. The discussion aimed to further intensify this collaboration, which is significant for the country’s energy sector.

In the context of developing investment potential, the success of the International Forum on Attracting Foreign Investment into the Economy of Turkmenistan, held in Kuala Lumpur, was also noted.

In addition to economic issues, the parties discussed enhancing cultural and humanitarian ties, particularly in education and tourism.
