The volume of export, import, and transit traffic between Turkmenistan and Russia has increased significantly thanks to joint efforts to develop the North-South International Transport Corridor (ITC). This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev at a meeting of the Turkmen-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.

“Cooperation in transport has been and remains one of the key areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation. Thanks to the coordinated work of relevant agencies, we are seeing steady positive momentum,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

He recalled that in 2023, a subcommittee on transport was established within the intergovernmental commission, ensuring effective interaction between the transport structures of the two countries.

Atagulyev also highlighted the successful implementation of the program for developing cooperation between the railway agencies of Turkmenistan and Russia for 2023-2025. According to him, the draft roadmap for cooperation in the transport sector is in its final stages of approval.
