Turkmenbashi to Host IMO and IHO Regional Seminar on International Maritime Conventions

Turkmenistan, actively developing maritime and river transport, has approved a plan to host a major international event in the port city of Turkmenbashi.
At a Cabinet of Ministers meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved a proposal to hold a regional seminar, which will be organized jointly with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO).
Deputy Prime Minister Mametkhan Chakyev presented a report on the steps being taken to train world-class specialists.
The main objective of the seminar is to ensure compliance with IMO international conventions and enhance the professional knowledge of seafarers in this area. The participation of two key international organizations underscores Turkmenistan’s commitment to fully integrating its merchant marine fleet into global logistics standards.
The head of state noted the effective steps taken to improve the country’s merchant marine fleet and train highly qualified specialists, instructing the Deputy Prime Minister to carry out all necessary work to organize the seminar at a high level.
