Central Asian Leaders Adopt Joint Statement in Tashkent

Central Asian leaders adopted a joint statement following the seventh Consultative Meeting held Nov. 16 in Tashkent, the press service of the Uzbekistan’s president reported.

The document was signed by Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov, and Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon.

The leaders supported an appeal to United Nations member states endorsing the candidacy of the Kyrgyz Republic for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2027–2028.

The countries also approved the full participation of Azerbaijan in the Consultative Meeting.

The heads of state further endorsed the Concept for Regional Security and Stability, as well as a catalog of security risks in Central Asia for 2026–2028 and measures to prevent them.
