Turkmenistan Proposes Closer Coordination With Uzbekistan on Transit Corridors

During the meeting between Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent, transportation was identified as a priority area of partnership, with Turkmenistan placing particular emphasis on developing international transport cooperation.

During the political dialogue, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised that Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are located at the crossroads of key routes along the «East–West» transport corridor.

In this regard, the head of state noted the importance of combining efforts to create the necessary infrastructure and conditions to facilitate the interconnection of the transport systems of China, Central Asia, Europe, Near and Middle East.

The President of Turkmenistan also emphasized the importance of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan route, with access to the Persian gulf and the Caspian sea.
