Turkmenistan will host the 84th meeting of the CIS Railway Transport Council in June 2026. This was announced by Silapberdy Nurberdyev, Deputy Minister of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan, speaking at the SPECA Economic Forum in Ashgabat.

Nurberdyev emphasized that the country will honorably host delegations from CIS countries and invited forum participants to join the upcoming session. He stated that Ashgabat is actively working to transform the region into a key transport hub, offering partners participation in promising logistics projects. In particular, he noted Turkmenistan’s openness to strengthening cooperation within the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman corridor, which aims to provide Central Asian countries with direct access to ports on the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean.

Particular attention was paid to the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran (KTI) international railway, which is the eastern link of the North-South International Transport Corridor (ISTC). The Deputy Minister noted that this route is the most optimal route to the Gulf of Oman ports not only for regional states but also for major economies such as Russia and China. According to Nurberdyev, this makes the transregional project highly economically attractive and opens access to new solvent markets.

The SPECA Economic Forum is being held in the Turkmen capital on January 21-22.
