In the modern era, the development of national shipbuilding has emerged as a pivotal vector of Turkmenistan’s economic strategy, aimed at bolstering the country’s transport and logistics potential. A vivid testament to this progress is the extensive work currently underway at the “Shipbuilding and Repairing Yard “Balkan” Open Joint Stock Company. In accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, the shipyard is accelerating the construction of two modern dry cargo vessels and one dredger.

The construction of these new dry cargo vessels represents a strategic milestone in expanding fleet capacity. This initiative will significantly increase export-import and transit cargo volumes, while further solidifying Turkmenistan’s status as a premier logistics hub on the Caspian Sea.

Simultaneously, the assembly of a specialized dredger will provide the technical capability to conduct regular dredging operations. Maintaining navigation channels in optimal condition is essential for ensuring maritime safety and the unobstructed passage of large-tonnage vessels, which is vital for the efficient operation of international transport corridors.
