A delegation from Turkmenistan, including Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Babaniyaz Yalakov, participated in the meeting “Taxes and Development,” which was held in Tokyo on March 2-3, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The event was held as part of the “Platform for Cooperation on Tax Issues,” a joint initiative of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the UN. Representatives of international financial institutions, heads of financial and tax departments from various countries, and experts from international organizations participated.

During the meeting, participants discussed improving tax policy, increasing the efficiency of tax systems, and developing international cooperation for economic growth. Particular attention was paid to strengthening tax administration in developing countries, introducing digital technologies into tax management, efficiently using financial resources, and creating a transparent economic environment. Following the meeting, a number of proposals were put forward to expand international cooperation in the tax sphere, exchange information, and develop effective tax policies that promote economic growth.
