BAKU, May 12, 2026. — A solemn welcoming ceremony for the first dry cargo ship “Gadamly,” built entirely in Turkmenistan, was held at the Baku International Sea Trade Port. Speaking at the event, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Gurbanmammet Elyasov, announced that the vessel will operate regular voyages in the Caspian region, specifically towards Azerbaijan. The diplomat described the arrival of the new ship at the Port of Baku as a significant indicator of the growing transport and logistics cooperation between the two countries.

The Ambassador noted that this modern vessel, with a carrying capacity of 6,100 tons, is the first dry cargo ship built at the “Balkan” Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant under a contract signed with the Korean side.

Designed for container transportation, the new vessel will enhance the efficiency of international cargo shipments in the Caspian Sea. The diplomat emphasized that this project is of great importance for strengthening the national maritime fleet, modernizing infrastructure, and expanding the region’s logistics capabilities.

Furthermore, G. Elyasov noted that the maiden voyage of the vessel to the Port of Baku demonstrates the high priority Turkmenistan places on expanding bilateral relations with Azerbaijan, particularly in the transport sector. It was highlighted that this event serves as another example of mutual trust between the two fraternal nations, and that high-level negotiations play a decisive role in strengthening Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan cooperation.
