Russian Railways (RZD) plans to expand cooperation with Turkmenistan in a number of areas, including transportation, route development, digitalization, and personnel training. This was announced to journalists by RZD First Deputy General Director Sergei Pavlov on the sidelines of the 84th meeting of the CIS Council for Railway Transport, which is taking place in Ashgabat on May 13–14.

“We have a long-standing relationship, and we’ve outlined several areas of cooperation. This includes, naturally, transportation as our core business. Secondly, joint technological development, then human resource development, staff training, delegation exchanges, digitalization, and social and youth interactions. All of this is underway, and we’re ready to accelerate and expand this cooperation,” he said.

The First Deputy Head of Russian Railways also reported that their Turkmen colleagues were offered a quadripartite agreement on the development of the Eastern Route of the North-South International Transport Corridor (ITC). The document stipulates regulations for cargo delivery times and border crossing operations.
