Turkmenistan, U.S. IDFC Discuss Transport Projects and Financing

Turkmenistan and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (IDFC) discussed prospects for cooperation in the transport sector and the financing of joint projects, the Ministry of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan reported on Tuesday.

The meeting was held at the Ministry of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan and was attended by Minister of Railway Transport Mammet Akmammedov, relevant specialists, and an IDFC delegation led by Chief Policy Officer Caroline Vik. Chairman of the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan Azat Shanazarov also joined the talks via videoconference.

Caroline Vik, IDFC’s Chief Policy Officer, thanked the Turkmen side for the warm welcome and noted the corporation’s interest in developing reliable and long-term cooperation with Turkmenistan, highlighting the country’s advantageous geographic location.

During the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to explore priority areas of cooperation in the transport sector and to continue their dialogue.
