Transit Cargo Through Turkmenistan Up 15%

07.07.2026

The total volume of goods transported in transit through Turkmenistan exceeded 3.5 million tons, marking a 15% increase compared to the same period last year. The transit cargo was delivered to 94 countries, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan reported on Friday.

During the reporting period, cargo turnover at border checkpoints located along international transport corridors passing through Turkmenistan exceeded 10.5 million tons in the first six months of 2026, up 10% year-on-year.

According to the report, customs checkpoints along international transport corridors are being gradually modernized with increased capacity and wider implementation of digital systems in customs procedures.

At border checkpoints equipped with modern inspection systems, customs procedures are digitally monitored from the moment a vehicle enters the country. This has significantly reduced the time required for clearance at border crossing points.
