“Shipbuilding and Repairing Yard “Balkan” OJSC is steadily moving forward, strengthening position on heavy industry of Turkmenistan and introducing innovative technologies into shipbuilding. Currently, the enterprise is implementing the project to build two modern dry cargo vessels with a carrying capacity of 6,100 tons. This ambitious project will not only expand the country’s national maritime fleet but also mark a significant step forward in the development of the shipbuilding industry.

Cooperation with the South Korean company “Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co. Ltd.” has enabled the Balkan Shipyard to introduce advanced shipbuilding technologies and quality management systems that meet international standards. This guarantees the high quality and reliability of the vessels under construction.

On November 11, 2024, a significant milestone in construction was reached: the first blocks of the future vessels were launched onto the dock. This event demonstrated the high qualifications of the plant’s specialists and the effectiveness of the technologies employed. Further work includes hull assembly, installation of mechanisms and equipment, as well as completion and outfitting of the vessel.

It is also worth noting that the keel-laying ceremony for the first vessel is scheduled for January 2025.
