Turkmenistan and China signed a memorandum aimed at deepening cooperation in the energy sector.

The document was finalized during the ninth meeting of the Energy Subcommittee of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee, which took place on Monday in Ashgabat, as reported by the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper published on Tuesday.

The memorandum reflects both sides’ commitment to expanding joint projects developed by experts from each country. Xinhua Zhang, head of the National Energy Administration of China, led the Chinese delegation during the talks.

During the negotiations, Turkmenistan announced its readiness to increase natural gas supplies to China.

The Turkmen side presented plans to modernize the energy sector, which include implementing innovative technologies and utilizing advanced international practices.

Both sides noted that expanding and developing cooperation through joint business initiatives remains a priority for them.

Earlier, the International Oil and Gas University named after Yagshygeldi Kakayev and four Chinese organizations signed a five-party Memorandum of Understanding to establish a Lu Ban Workshop in Turkmenistan.
