Balkan shipyard

"Shipbuilding and repairing yard "Balkan" open joint-stock company is established in April 15, 2019 on basis of Decree of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov (№1080 dated 29.01.2019). 

"Shipbuilding and repairing yard "Balkan" open joint-stock company – This shipyard is located near international Turkmenbashy seaport, east coast of Caspian Sea of Turkmenistan.

Prior to establishing joint-stock company, "Shipbuilding and repairing yard "Balkan" open joint-stock company was belonging to international Turkmenbashy seaport of Turkmenistan as one of its affiliates, entered into operation in May 2018.

About us

"Shipbuilding and repairing yard "Balkan" open joint-stock company in Turkmenbashy city is a first step of our country in the field of manufacture and repairing of shipyard, as well as important contribution to development of national economy and field of a sea and river transportation of country.

Total area of the factory is 166 000 m2. Production capacity of the shipyard allows to process 10 000 tons of steel per year. Thanks to modern technological equipment and automation system that corresponds to international requirements, it is possible to manufacture 4-6 ships. This production facility has all resources to process 2 000 tons of steel and conduct repairing works of 20-30 ships.

The shipyard is equipped with a system for round-trip operation and relocation of ships up to 10 000 ton lifting capacity in order to lower newly built and repaired ships to water and lift it from there for repairing.

84-ton capacity wheeled wharf crane, 42, 64, 80-ton capacity tracker cranes are used for various production works. Ship designing, project management, logistics, repairing, production, technical maintenance, quality and labor safety departments are working in coordination at the plant management.

Main technical specifications workshop

• Maximum ship dimensions for lifting with Sinhrolift – length – 155 m, width – 22 m, submersion level – 5,5 m;
• Mooring length from east side – 280 m, from south – 291 m;
• Average depth of harborage berthing and workshop of the shipyard is 9 m, and thanks to location of the port and the workshop for ships at natural bay, big waves are not observed;
• Transportation – sea, motorway and railways;
• For manufacture of new ships, the workshop can process 10.000 tons of steel per year and this allows to manufacture 4-6 ships per year;
• For repairing pf ships, the workshop can process 2.000 tons of steel per year and this allows to manufacture 20-30 ships per year;
• Portal cranes:
  • LPS 420 (84-ton capacity) – 1 piece.
  • LPM 280 (64-ton capacity) – 2 pieces.
  • LPS 280 (42-ton capacity) – 2 pieces.
• Main technology of the workshop is based on manufacture of new ships in line with repairing. Separate manufacture and repairing is not foreseen. Shipbuilding works include all activities for building of ships, starting from acceptance of materials to lowering ships to water with completion of final assembly, including performance of preliminary works.
