As part of the participation in the 113th session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, the delegation of Turkmenistan held bilateral meetings with the International Organization of Employers (IOE) and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC). This is reported by the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the United Nations in Geneva.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Turkmenistan Muhammetseyit Sylapov discussed with IOE Secretary General Roberto Suarez-Santos ways to expand cooperation, including technical support and involvement of national employers in international processes. The Turkmen side confirmed its readiness for further cooperation with the IOE, emphasizing the importance of joint initiatives and active business participation in the reform of the social sphere.

During the meeting with the head of the ITUC, Luc Triangle, the focus was on developing a trilateral partnership between the government, employers and trade unions. Steps to further expand the dialogue, including possible membership of Turkmenistan’s trade unions in the ITUC, were discussed. The activity of national trade unions in international and regional formats, as well as their participation in shaping the country’s social policy, was noted.

During the plenary session of the 113th session of the International Labour Conference, M. Sylapov delivered a speech in which he emphasized Turkmenistan’s commitment to the principles of decent work, social justice and partnership. The Minister noted the relevance of the ILO’s global agenda and its compliance with the strategic directions of the country’s development outlined in the National Program of Socio-Economic Development until 2052.
