As part of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, held in the “Avaza” National Tourist Zone, the Balkan Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Yard hosted a delegation from the Republic of Cyprus. The delegation was led by Ms. Marina Hadjimanolis, Deputy Minister of Shipping of Cyprus.

During the visit, which was accompanied by Azat Shanazarov, Chairman of the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan, the guests were introduced to the key aspects of the enterprise’s operations. Special attention was paid to the modern infrastructure, advanced technologies, and core production processes, including shipbuilding and ship repair.

The Chairman informed the delegation about the construction of the first vessels at the shipyard, as well as the ongoing tender for the construction of two Ro-Ro type ferries and one dry cargo vessel, which will be financed by the Islamic Development Bank. It was emphasized that these projects not only contribute to the development of the shipbuilding industry but also significantly increase the capacity of the national fleet.

The leaders of both sides also discussed the prospects for developing cooperation in the maritime sector. The dialogue served as an excellent opportunity for the exchange of experience, which could bring mutual benefits to both countries. The visit of the Cypriot delegation highlighted the international recognition of the Balkan shipyard and opened up new horizons for partnerships in the fields of shipping and shipbuilding.
