The authorities of the Astrakhan region have prepared a 20-hectare site for the placement of a logistics center for Turkmenistan in the port special economic zone “Lotus”. This was reported by TASS, citing the vice-governor and chairman of the government of the Astrakhan region Denis Afanasyev.

– We have been preserving this site for a long time for the trade and logistics center of Turkmenistan and intend to continue doing so, since we plan to offer similar conditions not only to Turkmenistan, but also to the Islamic Republic of Iran. We also have a significant volume of foreign economic activity with Iran, – he noted.

Afanasyev added that during a working trip to Ashgabat, he discussed the details of the project with his Turkmen colleagues. “Today, we discussed the technical aspects of the center’s work and exchanged opinions on its functioning. We have made progress in the technical discussion, but the implementation deadlines have not yet been determined. Nevertheless, the site remains ours,” Afanasyev clarified. The agreement on the creation of a logistics center was signed in January of this year between the General Director of the Lotus SEZ Sergey Milushkin and the Acting General Director of the Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan Merdan Byashimov during the visit of the Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to Ashgabat in January of this year.
