Turkmenistan is strengthening its status as a reliable transit bridge between Asia and Europe. According to a rapid study conducted by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in October-November 2024, the average time for transit cargo to cross the border through Turkmenistan is only 50 minutes. This is the shortest indicator in the Central Asian region. For comparison: in Kazakhstan – 2 hours 26 minutes, in Tajikistan – 1 hour 50 minutes, in Kyrgyzstan – 1 hour 28 minutes, in Uzbekistan – 1 hour 25 minutes. This was reported by the Customs Service of Turkmenistan.

This result became possible due to the well-coordinated work of customs and other regulatory bodies of Turkmenistan through the use of information systems, the introduction of green corridors, and the simplification of customs procedures.

The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan plays an important role in the modernization and expansion of international transit corridors, harmonizing control in accordance with international standards, the source notes.
